I have the joy and wonder of using essential oils at home to enhance my own health and happiness as well as that of my family’s and as a therapist I use essential oils to enhance the health & happiness of my clients. My work whether therapy, coaching, perfume design or workshop facilitation, is person centred and client led and revolves around smell as the primary means to enhance health and happiness, instigate change and support transition.
For me Aromatics, or Aromatherapy as most people call it, is all about enhancing our experience of the world, bringing in a greater sense of self awareness, of presence and of knowing. We experience the world through our sense of sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch and if we can enhance our senses and become aware of the information that is coming in from all around us, our knowledge and understanding of what, where and who we are will increase. During this process, our knowledge and understanding as well as experience of the world we live in will also increase significantly.
Aromatics also carry another advantage!
At the same time as giving us information about our earth, the environment, the world around us, ourselves and where we fit into things, aromas also provide physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual healing powers.
Our sense of smell is controlled by the part of the brain (the Limbic System) that controls emotions, thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and that houses memories. The limbic system also influences nervous impulses and hormone secretions which has a direct and profound impact on our health & happiness as well as our experience of the world. Our sense of smell influence the way we think and feel about ourselves and the outside world!
