Aromatherapy Solutions for Insomnia
Insomnia can be an extremely frustrating and damaging condition that not only creates short term problems such as fatigue, exhaustion, lack of clarity and focus, stress and anxiety, worry and fear, but can also create much more damaging long term effects.

Insomnia is therefore much more than just lack of sleep and whilst today many reach for sleeping tablets and seek advice from a GP who then often prescribe tablets or other forms of medication, there are more natural solutions.
Aromatherapy here has a strong action because there are many essential oils that relax the body, calm the mind, soften the emotions, help to induce sleep and at the same time, boost immunity.
Essential Oils To Treat Insomnia?
Benzoin, Bergamot, Chamomile, Frankincense, Lavender, Neroli and Ylang Ylang are particularly effective at promoting rest, settling circulation, slowing and deepening the breath. They are also all sedatives that settle nerves, calm the mind and gently sooth the emotions all of which helps to reduce anxiety, worry, stress, tension and fear. Chamomile, Lavender and Bergamot are strong antiseptics and help to boost the immune system whilst also helping to fight off any infections that might be taking advantage of a system that is already under strain.
Clary Sage is a powerful sedative, Marjoram is extremely warming, fortifying and strengthening and Sandalwood also offers strength, warmth, comfort and relaxation.
In truth, any of these oils alone or combined would work well to combat Insomnia and the best two ways of using these oils to treat this problem at home would be inhalation and bath.
Methods of Application for Insomnia
Aromatic Baths are an amazing and simple way of relaxing, unwinding, and promoting a restful sleep. Baths help to warm the body, reduce heart rate, blood pressure and deepen as well as slow down the breathing. They ease aches and pains, soothe digestion, help to calm the nerves and alleviate stress, tension and anxiety; an amazing way to promote sleep each day.
Aromatic Inhalations are very easy to use and extremely helpful when trying to fight infections, boost immunity, calm the nerves, ease the mind and alleviate any worries, fear, tension, stress and anxiety.
Recommended Daily Solutions?
Aromatic Bath 1 x daily using any or multiple of the essential oils
4 tablespoons of bath salts (Epsom or Dead Sea Salt) + 8 drops of essential oil
Do this at the end of the day to help to promote rest, relaxation and to unwind.
Steam Inhalation 1 x daily using any or multiple of the essential oils
Bowl of hot, steaming water, add 3-4 drops of essential oil, place a towel over your head and cover the bowl when you place your head over it.
Oil Diffuser – place some oils in your diffuser and turn it on at night to help to bring a nice aroma to the room that will also aid and promote rest and sleep
Essential Oil drops – place a few drops of your chosen oil on a tissue and place this under your pillow each night
