Essential Oils Helping Your Children Get Back Into The School Routine
It’s Back To School, so we have some suggestions to help you to get the kids back into their routine.
Orange & lavender are brilliant essential oils to use for children because they are warming, cheerful, relaxing, restful and gently uplifting. You can use these in the late afternoon and evening to help them to relax and enhance their state of happiness. You can also use these in an oil burner in their bedroom to help to create a nice relaxing and calming environment. If you have an electric oil diffuser, why not leave it on when they go to sleep? The kids would love that! I would not advise an oil burner because of the naked candle flame – it’s best not to leave a candle in a room unattended.
You could also use 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of orange in 2 tablespoons of bath salts (epsom or dead sea) and place this in a nice warm evening bath. This should help them to relax and unwind.
Alternatively, you could use 1 drop of each (orange & lavender) in a tablespoon of carrier oil (sweet almond oil for example) and gently massage your child. They’ll love it!
Getting them up and ready for school is a challenge at the best of times, so why not be one step ahead of the game? Get the oil diffuser/burner prepared with 3 drops of Orange and 3 drops of Rosemary? You could also place 1 drop of each on a tissue for them and when you wake them up you can offer it to them. Together they are both happy, awakening, refreshing, uplifting and positive
Looking back I remember being disappointed that holidays had finished. Christmas was always a great time of year despite the colder, darker weather…that just seemed to make it better. On top of that, I had lots of late nights and was still excited with all the presents but I did look forward to seeing my friends again!
Something else you could try is talking to them about how amazing the holidays have been, what they enjoyed the most, ask them what has happened and then start to talk about how brilliant it’s going to be going back to school. You can ask them about all the things they love about school…by focusing on the positives, the idea is that hopefully they’ll feel happier and more positive about it all.
